About Burke

Burke Schaefer – Your Go-To Real Estate Agent

My name is Burke Schaefer, and I'm a licensed Wisconsin REALTOR®—born, raised, and proudly serving the communities I've called home my entire life.

As a third-generation Real Estate Professional, I grew up in Sun Prairie, WI, learning the industry from a young age and developing a deep understanding of our local markets and this great state as a whole.

Since earning my real estate license, I've built a reputation for being ambitious, savvy, and relentlessly client-focused. I bring a genuine, down-to-earth personality and a determined “go-get-’em” attitude to every transaction, whether I'm helping someone buy their first home or sell a property they've owned for decades.

I'm proud to serve a wide range of areas across Wisconsin, including Dane, Sauk, Columbia, Dodge, Jefferson, Waukesha, Rock, Walworth, Iowa, Lafayette, Green, and Grant counties.

If you—or someone you know—are looking for a knowledgeable, lifelong, reliable agent, I'd love the opportunity to connect. I consider myself on call so please, reach out anytime. I would love to speak with you!

How I work

Three things I won't compromise on.

Anyone can put words on a values page. Here's what mine look like in practice — with the actual stories.

01

Local-first, always

I grew up here, work here, raise my family here. Market intelligence comes from being on these roads every week — not a national algorithm.

From the field

Buyers from out of town often ask me about a Sun Prairie cul-de-sac that looks perfect on paper. Sometimes the right read is the neighbor across the street, the school bus stop, or the way the morning sun hits the kitchen. That's the part the algorithm misses.

02

Honest, even when it’s hard

I’d rather lose a deal than steer you into the wrong one. If a house is overpriced, you’ll hear it. If now isn’t the time to sell, I’ll tell you that too.

From the field

When buyers want to push hard over ask on a home with clear comp issues, my job is to walk them through the math first. Sometimes that means waiting two weeks for a better house in the same school district. The right answer isn't always the fastest one.

03

Treat every client like family

First-time buyer or fifth-time seller — same energy, same hours, same follow-through. That’s the third-generation REALTOR® standard I was raised on.

From the field

I’ve toured dozens of homes with a single buyer before. I’ve answered the phone in the evening because an inspector flagged something and a closing was a few days out. That’s the work. I don’t outsource it.

The path here

A career built one block at a time.

Real estate is a relationship business that gets called a transaction business. The path I took was deliberately the relationship one.

  1. Grew up

    Sun Prairie, Wisconsin

Third generation in a family of Wisconsin REALTORS®. Listened to closings around the dinner table before I could spell escrow.

  2. License

    Wisconsin Real Estate Salesperson

Earned license #110527-94 and joined American Realtors — the family-owned brokerage I still call home.

  3. First clients

    Buyer-side foundation

Built the practice on first-time buyers and relocators. Learned the South Central market block by block by walking it with people deciding where to plant roots.

  4. Expansion

    Twelve-county footprint

Grew into Dane, Sauk, Columbia, Dodge, Jefferson, Waukesha, Rock, Walworth, Iowa, Lafayette, Green, and Grant counties — South Central and Southwest WI.

  5. Today

    Buyers, sellers, investors

Running a deliberately small book so every client gets the on-call standard. Same phone number. Same person every time.

Why Burke

Five questions, asked honestly.

Most of what people want to know but feel weird asking on a first call.

How many homes do you sell in a typical year?
My practice is intentionally small — roughly 30–50 closings a year. That ceiling is on purpose. It’s how I keep the on-call standard for every client without handing you off to an assistant.
Do you work with first-time buyers?
Yes — a meaningful share of my practice. I walk you through pre-approval, neighborhoods, offer strategy, inspections, and closing. First-time buyers get the same hours, the same showings, and the same negotiation as my biggest sellers.
What’s your commission structure?
Standard Wisconsin commission, fully disclosed and negotiable in writing before we list. No surprise fees, no junk add-ons. I’ll explain exactly where every dollar goes before you sign anything.
Will you represent me if I’m relocating from out of state?
Absolutely. Out-of-state and relocation buyers are a meaningful part of my book — I do video tours, neighborhood walk-throughs, and remote closings. Wisconsin is full of people who didn’t grow up here. I’ll be your ground-truth on schools, commutes, taxes, and weather.
What’s the one thing that sets you apart?
I answer my phone. That sounds basic until you’ve been ghosted by a real estate team. The phone Burke gives you is the phone Burke answers — evenings, weekends, on the road. Every time.
